Irena Sendler

Irena Sandler, graphite drawing by Ingrid Blixt
Irena Sendler, graphite on plaster and wood, 24×24 in

Also from my Stains series, a graphite drawing on plaster and wood panel, measuring 24×24 inches. Depicts amazing Irena Sendler,  a Polish Roman Catholic nurse/social worker who served in the Polish Underground during World War II, and as head of children’s section of Żegota, an underground resistance organization in German-occupied Warsaw.
She saved 2500 children and probably 500 adults from the Holocaust.
