Hiding Places Series

The new barn wood/ encaustic pieces are done and on display in my studio shop!
8 new pieces are in my shop and 2 of them are on display at Lansing Art Gallery’s Holiday Show.
A few of this fall’s series of Hiding Places are hand hewn barn wood blocks , which are so incredible beautiful and rustic – I almost didn’t want to carve into them – but the encaustic / barn wood combo goes very well together after all.

You can view images from the process of making them on my blog.

Also I added silver leaf and gold leaf to the mix for two of the artworks with religious subject and the combination turned out very well – I was concerned of disturbing the organic simplicity of beeswax/barn wood combination.
