An introductory workshop to encaustic painting, made easy and fun: a combination of photography/ inkjet prints with pigmented beeswax. Bring in your favorite black and white imagery for a hot treatment: we will be painting on top of the image with layers of beeswax, then incise a fine line drawing in the top layers and add some stain for a beautiful patina.
Participants must bring their own imagery to use in this project. The images have to be inkjet or giclee prints, printed on matte photo paper or absorbent watercolor paper. Image size should be 8”x8” – please bring two images to work with. The images should be black and white.
Note: it is very important that the image is printed on MATTE (photo paper) or WATERCOLOR quality paper. If you do not have where to print your image, please email me the full res image and I will print it for you.
Materials: carving and cutting tools, beeswax, hot plate, glue, brayer, wood panel, stain
